Optanix on AIOps – Part 3: How Optanix Leverages AIOps Platform Features
The Optanix Platform leverages algorithmic intelligence to enable truly proactive business service assurance outcomes.
With many years of experience as a managed service provider (MSP) – one that has built and operated its own management platform – Optanix is uniquely positioned to leverage real-world operational knowledge as it goes about delivering the next generation of service assurance tools based on AIOps capabilities.
It is this hard-won experience that guides the current and future development of the Optanix Platform. As new AIOPs platform features are added and older ones refined, this extensive expertise in IT operations management (ITOM) tailors the way capabilities are envisioned, designed and eventually built.
The Optanix service assurance solution is designed for MSPs by an MSP. It is built from the ground up to address the specific needs of ITOM.
The Optanix Platform and its AIOps Platform Features
Let’s begin at the grassroots level by reviewing a variety of AIOps-enabled analytical outcomes and elaborating on how the Optanix Platform maps to each.
Historical and Streaming Data Management
AIOps platform features depend on the data they collect to deliver insights. This data ecosystem spans across performance, event, application and topology. The Optanix Platform consumes data from a diverse assortment of sources and uses a NoSQL Data Lake to store, enrich and provide accessibility for further analysis. The kinds of data include:
- Flow data
- Logs
- Metrics
- Events
- API Integrations
- End-user experience data
Basic and Advanced Statistical Analysis
The Optanix Platform performs event correlation. It has the ability to provide automation to perform analysis on events and performance metrics in order to analyze current and future capacity requirements. The AIOPs platform can analyze complex business service relationships such as resiliency performance and single points of failure, resulting in better capacity planning and the ability to provide threshold comparisons.
Automated Pattern Discovery and Prediction
The Optanix Platform provides dynamic baselining to determine what constitutes normal behavior of an application or service. In addition, it generates dynamic thresholds and tracks mean time to threshold. This provides a predictive approach to ITOM and a superior understanding of the entire service delivery infrastructure.
Anomaly Detection
The Optanix Platform provides dynamic baselining to determine what constitutes normal behavior of an application or service. In addition, it generates dynamic thresholds and tracks mean time to threshold. This provides a predictive approach to ITOM and a superior understanding of the entire service delivery infrastructure.
Root Cause Determination
The Optanix Platform has the advantage of having access to a wide spectrum of data types. It uses a top-to-bottom and end-to-end representation of service delivery to determine root cause. Additional automation is used to troubleshoot root cause before initiating remediation. For these reasons, our AIOps platform features excel at determining the root cause of service outages and performance degradations.
Prescriptive Advice
The Optanix Platform provides business impact analysis, including impact of impending incidents and prioritization based on the affected service. The automation capabilities and knowledge base of the platform make it possible to automatically assign incidents to the appropriate person and provide them with actionable intelligence and workflows that lead to faster resolution.
Topology
The Optanix Platform has the ability to add topological context to the service delivery infrastructure. This includes the physical and virtual dependencies driven by the network topology. In addition, the platform overlays application and service topology for the complex interconnected components that deliver the service to build a true understanding of the dependencies from top-to-bottom and end-to-end. The service models include relationships between the service and its components – whether they impact performance, availability or simply resiliency – to give a true understanding of impact when things go wrong.
The Optanix Platform and AIOPs Architecture
As shown in the figure below, the Optanix Platform provides predictive and proactive business service assurance across hybrid infrastructures, with actionable intelligence for prioritizing and addressing problems before they impact critical business services. This protects revenue, improves the customer’s experience and reduces IT costs.
There are a variety of tools that provide AIOps functionality. Some are generic in nature, others are tied to a monitoring partner ecosystem, and some are open source or build-your-own platforms. While these tools address a wide range of AIOps strategy needs, they do not necessarily provide a comprehensive or consolidated approach tailored for ITOM.
The Optanix Platform utilizes the key AIOps components described above in conjunction with carefully considered data sources to enable the transformation of service assurance for the next generation of services. Optanix’s focus on business services provides IT operations teams with the intelligence they need to ensure that IT services are operating effectively and efficiently to support the business – while prioritizing business impact.
In our next installment in this series, we’ll look at how Optanix’s AIOps technology improves business outcomes.
